Hinton Place is a sought after neighborhood on Highway 69S in Tuscaloosa. Not only is it convenient to shopping, dining and Interstate 20/59, it also has a rich history.
According the Hinton Place HOA site, “George Hinton had a vision for the development of the Hinton Dairy Farm land into a subdivision that would complement the rolling pasture land that backed up to a flowing creek flanked by beautiful virgin woodlands. He wanted to create a subdivision that captured both a sense of home and community.
More recently, it is the fish ponds that are the center of the activities at Hinton Place. The fish ponds were part of the dairy farm and have been the backdrop for many 4th of July fireworks shows and cook-outs. Only a bike ride from any house in the neighborhood, it is the destination for both the young and not-so young. Easter egg hunts, planned and impromptu cook-outs, and the occasional lemonade stand set up by energetic entrepreneurs on hot summer days continue the sense of family and community that is the earmark of Hinton Place. Each night neighbors greet neighbors as they walk together, push strollers, or simply wave as the joggers pass by their houses.
Within a few minutes of wonderful schools, churches, stores, and recreations centers, Hinton Place is a wonderful place to raise a family. It has already become the home of a second generation that has come back “home” to raise their families.”
